Families, Thrill Seekers and Outdoor Adventures:
Bolter Farm & Chalet offers year-round accommodation in the heart of the Kootenays, an area celebrated for its four distinct seasons, each of which bring unique world-class recreational opportunities to our doorstep. We are a convenient 30-minute drive to Fernie Alpine Resort, known for its abundance of snow and legendary skiing and snowboarding terrain. Ski season often stretches into April, and our chalet is a quick 30-minute drive, most often light on traffic and heavy on scenery.
The Trans Canada Biking Trails, only minutes from the Chalet, is just one example of the vast networks of hiking and biking trails, found throughout the area. The nearby Elk Valley, Bull and Wigwam Rivers are a world-class fly-fishing mecca, while Lake Koocanusa, a short 10-minute walk from our chalet, offers some of the best swimming, fishing, boating and summer-time recreation to be found.
And if you’re into quiet mountain lakes, we can point you in that direction too. Suzanne Lake and Northstar Lake Recreation Sites are a short 15-minute drive away and offer great fishing, picnicking and swimming. While nearby Rosen Lake and Tie Lake are fun for boating! The Kootenays are also a premier destination for canoeing and kayaking, whether you’re looking for calm waters or roaring rapids.

Plan a fall vacationFall is one of the most beautiful times to vacation in the Kootenays. Colours come alive as birch trees turn gold, and hiking and biking is at its best. Cool crisp mornings greet sunny afternoons, and the hustle and bustle of summer has faded into a more relaxed pace. This is the season for good books, long walks, crowd-free fishing, and campfires.

Hunting territory 4-22
Come to the Kootenays during hunting season, and you’ll feel a certain electricity and camaraderie in the air -- and perhaps notice a little extra camouflage being sported in our communities. Hunting season has arrived, and our area is filled with expert guides, endless backcountry and plenty of game.
After a long day or night of hunting, our cozy, fully stocked chalet welcomes you back, a wood burning fireplace setting the stage for the perfect evening. Pre-order meat for your stay and enjoy naturally grown pork, chicken or beef, born, raised and produced on our family farm. It’s a perfect place to take the wife, the family, or escape with the guys. We welcome responsible use of all-terrain vehicles, which can be driven from the back-country directly to and from the chalet.

Corporate & Business ProfessionalIf you are looking to combine business and pleasure, or work from a place that inspires creativity, our Chalet checks all the boxes. Access Wi-Fi and connect to the world, while enjoying the peace and quiet of nature. Go for a walk before your meeting. Do yoga on the deck before tackling that deadline. Grab a glass of wine, take in the mountain views, and catch up on your emails. Write. Create. Innovate -- then go explore the farm.
Feel some dirt. Smell the grass. Listen to the birds. It’s pretty awesome. Interested in hosting a small corporate retreat at the Chalet? We do that too. |
